Being an Odoo Gold partner, one of the core services Confianz Global provides is Odoo consultation. The process depends on what kind of project the client is interested in.

New Odoo Implementation Projects

These are projects where the customer did their due-diligence comparing Odoo with other ERP systems like SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, etc. and decided to move forward with Odoo Enterprise. The process Confianz follows is detailed below.

One of the representatives from Confianz US headquarters will visit the customer to spend 1-2 days with them to clearly understand their current processes in place, software currently used, what kind of data migration required, and most importantly, interviewing the business owners, department heads, etc. This process is very important to understanding and defining the current pain points the customer is having and document them. This documentation will be further split into actionable tasks by Confianz’s Odoo team. The actionable tasks are categorized into three named task lists. The first one is called “Native Odoo features”, second is called “Requires Configurations” and last one is called “Customizations”. The tasks are categorized into the right task lists and are used to create a Work Breakdown Structure with man-hours and cost. A fixed cost project proposal is created from this WBS, which includes a defined timeline for training your employees, Project Management, QA Testing and User Acceptance Testing support. The proposal is split into milestone-based payments and every week there will be a status update that defines what has been done in the previous week, any concerns, what is planned for next week and most importantly if there is some functionality to be demoed from the last iteration. Weekly status update meetings are done via WebEx and feedback from the customer is taken. After the project completion, including deployment on Amazon/Google Cloud server, Confianz provides support and maintenance for the Odoo implementation. The above defined process has helped immensely because Confianz doesn't have a single project that failed.


Odoo Migration Project or Odoo Project Rescue

Confianz also performs Odoo migrations from one version to another, which can be Odoo Community version upgrade or Odoo Community to Enterprise higher versions. With such projects, if the Odoo partner who implemented the project is not Confianz, we do a thorough analysis of the source code to make sure the code base, especially customizations, are properly done and it is something we can support. This is important as once we take over the project, we don't point fingers on anyone else, its our responsibility to manage the project throughout the entire software lifecycle.

We follow this same process with Odoo Project Rescue, but our analysis is deeper to understand why the project failed in the first place with another Odoo partner. From our experience we have seen some companies altering and adding snippets of code to the core Odoo modules which is a very bad practice and makes the upgradation process very difficult and sometimes impossible. At Confianz, when we build a new Odoo module for you or extend the features on an existing core module, we build it as a plug and play module and install it on the server for you. This makes future Odoo migrations a breeze as all we have to do is migrate the database for you, working with Odoo Belgium, and install the modules, making sure none of the Odoo API’s used by the custom modules are depreciated. Even if it is deprecated, we will upgrade the module to work with the version of Odoo we are migrating to.

For all the methods above, the first two meetings with Confianz are free of charge. A typical first two WebEx calls lasts 2 hours per session. We will put in our best effort to make sure we get all the data to provide a no-obligation fixed price quote. But if the business and processes are too big, we will ask the customer to pay a small engagement fee of approximately 10 to 20 hours, depending on the size of the business. For onsite requirements analysis, the customer pays for the daily hours spent by the Technician or Engineer onsite (one day is 8 hours) and bill the customer on actuals for an economy round trip plane ticket (if outside North or South Carolina) and accommodation. After this process, if you award the project to us, we will refund you the onsite consulting hours cost on the project.

We also provide WebEx based Odoo consulting mainly for training purposes. We record the call and share it with customer for their future reference.
